TLG Associate Requirements

All TLG associates must meet the following general requirements:

  • Preferred: College, Master’s Degree or Ph.D. in organizational development, business, industrial psychology, instructional design, education, journalism/writing (for developers) human resources or similar.
  • Experience working for/with Fortune 500 and 1000 companies.
  • Shares TLG company values and has a demonstrated record of living by them.
  • Excellent client references.
  • Passion for helping clients get results and working with integrity.
  • Minimum 7 years experience in one or more of the “Associate Roles.”  
  • Demonstrated track record of successful results.
  • Preference is given to individuals who have practical business experience as a manager, business entrepreneur, sales or customer service associate.


Consultants must meet these additional requirements:

  • Seven years minimum experience as an internal or external HR, OD or training and development consultant. 
  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills.
  • High credibility with employees, managers and executives.
  • Able to travel for project work within a specific region, near a large client or nationally/internationally.
  • Demonstrate understanding of adult learning principles and basics of instructional design.
  • Expertise in one of the major areas TLG serves – Customer Service, Sales, Performance Management, Selection, Competencies or Strategy.
  • Able to keep things simple, talk in practical business language and adapt to audience needs.
  • Demonstrated track record of results.

Facilitators must meet these additional requirements:

  • Seven years minimum experience facilitating adult learning in a corporate environment.
  • Experience using professional facilitator guides (not self-developed).
  • Able to demonstrate Socratic learning method – open-ended questioning and group engagement vs. lecture.
  • Provide a video or CD showing your facilitation.
  • Able to travel for project work within a specific region, near a large client or nationally/internationally.
  • Demonstrate understanding of adult learning principles and basics of instructional design.
  • Able to keep things simple, talk in practical business language and adapt to audience needs.
  • Expertise in one of the major areas TLG serves – Customer Service, Sales, Performance Management, and Selection.
  • For sales trainers – Must have experience as a professional salesperson or sales manager.
  • For management/leadership facilitators – Must have experience supervising or managing others.
  • For selection/performance management facilitators – Certification in a selection program, job analysis certification, human resources or legal background, etc. is helpful.

Instructional Designers and Developers:

  • Minimum seven years instructional design and development experience.
  • Demonstrate in-depth understanding of adult learning principles and instructional design.
  • Able to provide excellent examples of instructional design or development work created by the individual.
  • Experience/Expertise in developing instructional materials in at least one of the areas TLG serves – Customer Service, Sales, Performance Management and Selection.
  • Ability to work in Microsoft electronic templates.
  • Excellent project management skills.
  • Exceptional writing, interviewing and creative thinking skills.
  • Advanced Microsoft Word skills.

TLG Associate Roles

 

Consultant
  • May be “senior” or “professional” level.
  • Project work behind scenes or on-site with client.
  • Examples of work: competency models, curriculum development, performance mgt. implementation.

 

Facilitator
  • May be employee, manager or senior level audience.
  • Delivers classroom training, meetings and work sessions.
  • Plays key role in preparation and follow-up with client.

 

Instructional Designer
  • Creates design outline(s), ensures actual materials align with outline.
  • May play second role of developer or project mgr.

 

Program Developer/ Writer
  • Mostly behind the scenes, some data collection, etc.
  • Develops materials from design outline.
  • Usually works within template.

 

Quality Standards Manager
  • Reviews all materials on project; ensures quality/consistency.
  • Not part of core development team or project manager.
  • Use on larger projects or where attention to detail is critical.
